Listening is one of the most important skills we can learn and nurture. How actively we listen has a major impact on our job effectiveness, and on the quality of our relationships with others in the world.

We listen to Get Information, Understand, Learn, Connect, Act Out and Get Results and we listen for enjoyment too!

Given all this listening we do, we would think we’d be good at it! In fact we’re not. Depending on the study being quoted, we remember a dismal 25-50% of what we hear. That means that when we talk to your boss, colleagues, customers or spouse, children for 10 minutes, they only really hear 2½-5 minutes of the conversation.
